I have never been one to buy expensive makeup, (unless I have a gift card or I’m not the one buying it) because most of the time you can buy the same makeup for a third of the price. However, I recently was sent a goody bag from MAC Cosmetics and after trying all of the products, I wanted to breakdown the items that are definitely worth the price and the items that aren’t much different from less expensive brands.
- Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour – Heavy Drama, $21
- Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation, $35
- Next To Nothing Powder/ Pressed, $28
- Haute and Naughty Too Black Lash Mascara, $23
- In The Flesh: Eye Shadow X 15, $65
Okay so for the lipcolour. This one was my favorite item in the goody bag. I noticed such a huge difference from my drug store lip colors. This item stayed on perfectly for around 4-6 hours with only one touchup and it didn’t make my lips look cracked or dried out like most matte products. I also loved how full it made my lips look. I definitely recommend this product and I can’t wait to try out new shades!
My next favorite product was the Foundation. The foundation was AMAZING. It went on super smooth and covered all of my acne scars and blemishes yet it didn’t look like I had caked it on. I also wore it out to the bars and after a night of sweating, dancing and falling asleep with my makeup on (which I don’t recommend) I woke up to my face looking the EXACT SAME. Imagine how long it would stay on a normal functioning individual who doesn’t enjoy going to bars and getting drinks splashed on them by drunk people!! LOL. Again, this is another product I would definitely recommend spending a little extra money on because the results are wonderful.
My skin tone unfortunately was too light for the powder I was sent so I have not been able to use it but hopefully in the summer once I have a tan I will be able to try it on!
Lastly, eye makeup. I tried the neutral shades because I did a dramatic eye liner and it overall was good coverage. The neutral matte shades stayed on wonderfully throughout the day. The only downfall to this palette is the shimmery shades. The shimmery shades did not stay on my eyelids and you could barely tell that I was wearing any makeup even when I applied primer. There are definitely better makeup palettes out there that have more pigmented shimmery shades. As for the mascara goes, I am a HUGE fan of Too Faced, Better Than Sex Mascara and I have yet to ever find a mascara I love more than that one. However, this one is a close second. I do still prefer Too Faced on my top lashes because of the amazing volume but the MAC mascara worked way better on my bottom lashes. Sometimes I find that Too Faced on my bottom lashes can look too fake or clumpy but when I tried the MAC mascara on the bottom lashes, it went on perfectly.
Hope this helps and if you have any questions feel free to message me!
